Theme parks might be some of America’s most under appreciated gems. There are some really amazing parks sprinkled all over the country. These parks cover everything from cartoon characters, to water slides, to even famous kid wizards.

But, one of the everlasting loves of many has to do with roller coasters. The vast majority of us spent at least a part of our childhood both terrified and thrilled at the prospect of riding one of the giants out there.

So, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that many people have made it a bucket list challenge to ride some of the best, tallest, fastest and yes, scariest roller coasters across the country someday.

In case you ever felt a need to add yourself to that list, here’s a head start. In this post, we’re covering some of the best roller coasters across the United States.

El Toro

This wooden coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is one of the best out there. It has top speeds of 70mph sits at 188 feet high. Also, this monster has the steepest drop allowable on a wooden roller coaster, at an amazing 76 degrees. It also tests the force of gravity, pushing riders in the air nine times during the course of the trip.

Millennium Force

Located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, Millennium Force is a world record breaking roller coasting. At a whopping 310 feet tall, it has been voted a number of times to be one of the best roller coasters in the world. It tops out at a terrifying 93 miles per hour, includes entering a number of tunnels and has three upside down turns.

Bizarro is the name of the newly redesigned Superman coaster at Six Flags New England. Consistently ranked as one of the best coasters in the world, it lasts an incredible three minutes and thirty seconds as it runs over one full mile of track. The scariest part might be the beginning, where riders drop 220 feet directly into a foggy tunnel going 77 miles per hour.
