Foodies love to travel, and the one thing they might love more than traveling is finding amazing places to eat while they are traveling. The good news?

There’s cities all over this country that are hidden foodie paradises, maybe they are known for incredible barbecue, amazing dim sum, mouth watering burgers, or the freshest seafood you could imagine.

It’s a wonder, when traveling around the United States that we all don’t become foodies, in search of the next great meal. They are certainly out there!

Today, we’re going to look at Savannah, Georgia. Now, there are a number of great reasons to visit this city beyond just the food, it’s beautiful antebellum architecture and leisurely way of life are some. But, the city is getting lots of attention lately because of the food options.

Here’s where you can eat if you’re looking to see the best of Savannah.

Olde Pink House

If you want to truly experience what the look and feel of the Old South was, then your first stop has to be the Olde Pink House. Set inside an antebellum mansion, this establishment serves a bevy of “New Southern” food like the famous collard greens and ravioli in a creamed pecan sauce.

Green Truck Pub

For a dining experience that is pretty much the opposite of the Olde Pink House (but no less delicious) head to the dive bar the Green Truck Pub. This is considered the best pub food in Savannah because everything on the menu is locally sourced farm to table. The burger is a big hit.

Leopold’s Ice Cream Parlour

No meal is ever truly complete without an incredible dessert. So, if you’re looking for something sweet after dinner (or anytime really) head to Leopold’s Ice Cream Parlour. It’s a family run business that’s been open for almost 100 years and every flavor is home made. Try the honey almond and cream.

Sweet Spice

There is no denying that there is an Afro-Caribbean influence on the food in the South, so why not try to experience some of the best? That’s why foodies love to head to Sweet Spice, the spot might look like a bit of a shack, but it has the best Jamaican food in all of Georgia. The curried goat is popular.

Ms. Wilkes Dining Room

If there was any eatery that was a beloved institution in Savannah, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room would certainly be in the running. If you’re looking for very traditional Southern comfort food home cooking, the type your grandma would make, this is the spot. Make sure to enjoy the meatloaf.

Well, there you have it. These are five of our favorite foodie spots in Savannah. Of course, there are plenty more that could be added to the list, but you might just have to discover those on your next trip to the Garden City.
