If one of the worst times of the year is mid-April when you have to sit down for a few hours and do your taxes, then one of the best times might be just a few weeks later when that refund check arrives in the mail.
So what better way to use that tax fund of yours than go on a mini vacation? Sounds pretty good to us! If you’re thinking, hang on a second, my tax refund isn’t that big, then don’t worry, there are plenty of budget cities you can enjoy that will give you plenty of bang for your buck.
Let’s take a look at a couple of them.
Nashville is an up and coming city that has sadly been under the radar to all but devoted country music fans for years. The thing with Nashville is it’s got absolutely tons of entertainment options, live music, bars, concerts, all wrapped up in an affordable package.
While the hotels in Washington, DC might not be the cheapest in the world, the thing you can do to make up for the cost and stretch your budget is take advantage of the epic amounts of free things you can do there. Start with any of the Smithsonian museums and you’ll be set.
It’s not surprising that Orlando, Florida rarely sees a lull in vacationers, because it offers the best of all worlds; consistent warm weather, tons of activities to enjoy, and lots of affordable food and lodging. Looking for more affordable activities? Check out Kennedy Space Center.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Now, if you watch yourself at the poker table, chances are you won’t come back too far in the hole after a trip to Sin City. Vegas is popular with budget travelers all over the world, since it offers amazingly affordable hotels, delicious buffet options, and lots of entertainment options.
Albuquerque, New Mexico
If you’re looking to slow down the pace of life during your after tax refund vacation, there are few better spots to enjoy than Albuquerque. Nestled in the beautiful Southwestern deserts, it has plenty of incredible food (be sure to try the green chilies), hiking trails, and hot air balloon rides.
Kansas City, Missouri
Kansas City is known for one very important thing: some of the very best barbecue you can find anywhere in the world. It’s an absolute food lovers paradise, and now their World Series Champion baseball team, the Royals, is pretty good too. Grab some ribs and a game and you’ll be set.
